About Miss Walkies Dog Walking and Boarding Services

Roseann and my partner Mark have been dog lovers all of our lives and have taken on many rescue dogs over the years, helping improve their lives.

Our families and friends are fellow dog lovers and have always called on us for help walking and looking after their dogs as an alternative to kennels.

When the opportunity came along to take on Miss Walkies which had then been established for two years we jumped at the opportunity as we both love the outdoors and have a joint affinity for dogs. This has proved itself to be our dream vocation and we feel we are in doggy heaven. We are sure that the dogs in our care feel the same.

As you will see from our testimonials our valued clients agree. We believe that satisfied dogs have happy owners.

We hold full insurance and a licence from the local authority as required under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963. This law is continuously being added to and amended. October 2018 saw the introduction of the Activities with Animals Regulations 2018 which changed the previous licensing regime for businesses involved in home boarding dogs and dog day care. Our Licence Number is 29251. This ensures that our dogs have adequate welfare, good social contact, plenty of exercise, are kept safe and secure and that a suitable consistent level of management is maintained. We surpass these requirements and provide our dogs a holiday from home as one of the family in Miss Walkies home.

We have been walking and home boarding dogs since mid 2014 and we are both still loving our vocation and can not imagine doing anything else.

Here are some of the dogs we have rescued:

Louie

Louie was a puppy of 6 months on the loose. Mark took her on when no owner came forward. He nursed her through distemper. Louie didn’t know any words and wasn’t house trained. But with lots of love and patience Louie soon learnt and flourished. She went with Mark where ever he went, such as up mountains and into caves. Unfortunately she had to be put down when she was 8 years old due to cancer. At least she had seven and a half happy years.

Gizzie

Roseann rescued Gizzie from an unused shed where she had been locked in and left. She was terrified of people, especially men. She was skin and bone. The vet said that she was about 6 months old. Gizzie trusted me and would jump into my arms shaking when anyone came close. But with lots of patience, caring and love, she gradually started accepting people around her. Then I met my partner Mark and Gizzie fell in love with him as I had done. Slowly she began to realise that no one was going to hurt her again and lost her fear. She lived a long happy life for 17 years. R.I.P. Wonder dog.

Lucy

We both realised we couldn’t go on without a dog in our lives, so we decided to rescue another dog. We acquired Lucy the collie-cross from Firhill Pets Hotel in August 2012. She had been in kennels for two months and the only known history was that she had come from a young family that couldn’t cope with her. She didn’t even know her name which was Lolly. So we changed it to Lucy and she learnt it within a day. Between us we have helped her overcome her fears such as cars, road signs and push bikes. Lucy loves people, children and other dogs and enjoys being out with us and the pack. She also welcomes other dogs into our home. Truly a model dog and we love her to bits.
